Part Two of our interview with Ryan Sorba, a young conservative who spoke at AFTAH’s Truth Academy outside Chicago Aug 5-7. This aired August 28, 2010. In this segment Sorba discusses how some leading lights on the American Right are pulling back from the fight against the organized homosexual agenda. LaBarbera reads from a column by blogger and commentator Matt Lewis about how young conservatives support sassy pundit Ann Coulter speaking before the homosexual Republican group GOProud. Lewis quotes pundit S.E. Cupp, who asserts that “Conservatism and gay rights are actually natural allies.” Sorba says Cupp, as a purported “conservative,” is involved in a self-contradiction and has a false conception of liberty.
“Homosexual acts are unjust,” says Sorba, and “sodomy is contrary to Scripture.” He says there is no more a “constitutional right” to sodomy than there is a “constitutional right” to drop acid in the privacy of your own home. He compares the twisted, contradictory idea of “homosexual marriage” to a “square circle,” and says it has nothing to do with true conservatism, which is designed to preserve what is good and noble. Sorba and LaBarbera also say pro-family advocates should stop using the word “gay,” which suggests intrinsic identity rather than changeable behavior.

Americans For Truth President Peter LaBarbera interviews young conservative activist Ryan Sorba for this AFTAH Hour program that aired August 21, 2010 [Click HERE to play]. Sorba was an instructor at the AFTAH Truth Academy August 5-7. In this, Part One, interview, he discusses the “born gay hoax” (the title of his unpublished book about the myth of genetic homosexuality) — and how pro-homosexual researchers like Dean Hamer have tried to prove inborn homosexuality have never been able to replicate their research.
LaBarbera relates a bizarre incident about Hamer — who divorced his wife to become a practicing homosexual, and then released his media-celebrated “gay gene” study just in time to affect the Clinton-era ”gays in the military” debate. As LaBarbera tells it, Hamer spoke at a Maryland PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) meeting, which LaBarbera attended (as a critic and reporter for The Lambda Report, the forerunner to Americans For Truth). After the speech, and with a few parents still present, LaBarbera went up to introduce himself to Hamer — who, learning who he was, immediately flew into a screaming rage in which he ridiculously accused LaBarbera of crusading to stalk and “kill” homosexuals.

The very weird spectacle revealed Hamer’s unprofessionalism and a fanatical commitment to radical “gay” politics that certainly called into question his objectivity as a researcher. (No major media, in reporting Hamer’s genetic study, had reported that he was homosexual, much less an unstable ”gay” activist.) Ultimately, Hamer’s “genetic homosexuality” study — which received millions of dollars’ worth of free media publicity and greatly influenced the idea of inborn homosexuality in the public’s mind – could not be replicated. Hamer and his homosexual lover are now activist documentary filmmakers.
Sorba discusses how today’s young people are susceptible to the ubiquitous pro-homosexuality propaganda that now soaks the culture, and how ignorant they are about information that contradicts homosexual activist myths. He expands on natural moral law approaches that undergird biblical morality, and urges a return toward thinking and talking about homosexuality in terms of unnatural behavior rather than LGBT identity.

AFTAH Interview: Pastor Calvin Lindstrom and Lynn Thomas Discuss Truth Academy

In this interview, which aired Saturday, August 14, 2010, we talk with Pastor Calvin Lindstrom of the Church of Christian Liberty, affilated with the Christian Liberty Academy (CLA) in Arlington Heights, Illinois. CLA hosted the debut AFTAH Truth Academy. Also on the program is Lynn Thomas, creator of Cao’s Blog and a conservative activist in Illinois. The two discuss the successful Truth Academy and the angry protest against it led by the Marxist homosexual hate group Gay Liberation Network. (Thomas compares the protesters to spoiled children having a fit.)
In the interview, the guests and Americans For Truth President Peter LaBarbera discuss the attendees’ and speakers’ outreach to Eric Posey, one of the pro-homosexual “spies” who attended the Truth Academy. Far from hating and ejecting this young homosexual activist, several attendees spent hours talking with him out of evident care for his soul. Pastor Calvin also discussed the need for more pastors to get informed on and involved in the battle over homosexuality — as the GLBT movement is the leading spear in the Left’s war on American religious freedom. In this interview (Part One of two), which aired Saturday, July 17, 2010, AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera talks in studio with John McCartney and Wayne Lela – two Chicago men who have a unique “ministry” of going to local Chicago colleges and universities and educating students about homosexuality and “gay” activism. They do this from a pro-natural-family perspective that most young people rarely hear. For that they have been harassed by liberal professors — among other trials — but they persevered and have now gained entry on to all the Chicago-area public colleges, which cannot legally engage in viewpoint discrimination.
In the interview, McCartney discusses the way “brainwashing” works on this issue — censoring negative information about homosexuality while demonizing opponents of the “gay” agenda. Lela (who as an agnostic is not a member of the so-called “Religious Right”) formed a group called HOME, Heterosexuals Organized for a Moral Environment. McCartney is a retired English teacher and committed Catholic living in Chicago who has long served both the pro-life and pro-family causes. Both men will be attending AFTAH’s upcoming Truth Academy Aug 5-7, to be held at the Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, IL.
In this (Part One) interview, the two discuss the reactions of students to their work — and how Chicagoland newspapers seem to be cutting back on printing letters-to-the-editor that are critical of homosexuality — which would be consistent with the increasingly censorious posture of Chicago’s major media, which generally are very pro-”gay.” Lela and McCartney deserve our commendation. There are millions upon millions of people who affirm the truth that homosexual behavior is wrong, destructive, unnatural and changeable. But there are precious few like these two men who actually contend for this truth in the public square — and especially with students who, as they say, are “brainwashed” by the non-stop pro-homosexual propaganda in the media and popular culture.

Here is Part Two of our interview with Linda Jernigan, which aired July 10, 2010. [see Part One of the interiew HERE.] In the interview, Jernigan, a former lesbian, is joined on air by Pastor Roger Ford, a former homosexual. Their discussion with AFTAH President Peter LaBarbera is fascinating on many levels — not least of which is the fact that both Jernigan and Ford were seduced into homosexuality as underage kids. (Gay activists denounce and ridicule any linkage between pedophilia and homosexuality.)
Jernigan’s real life parallels the awful “Vagina Monologues” play by radical feminist Eve Ensler in which a 13-year-old girl was seduced into lesbianism by a woman who was supposed to be a role model in the community. (In a later version of the play, Ensler changed the victim’s age to 16.) Jernigan tells AFTAH how when she was just 12 years old, a woman who was supposed to be her “mentor” began exposing Jernigan to sexual banter and discussions, and then started asking Jernigan about her sexual feelings. This led to the woman seducing Jernigan into sex and the lesbian lifestyle.
In the case of Pastor Ford, he was “manipulated” into homosexuality by an older teenage boy (age 18) when Ford was 12 or 13. The young man began by complimenting Ford, whose effeminacy made him a social reject. Ford’s father died when he was very young, which he says contributed to him being drawn into homosexuality. Ford and Jernigan (www.RescuingHomosexuals.net) both reach out with the Gospel to people trapped in the homosexual lifesyle, and help them find freedom in Christ.

Barber is the Director of Cultural Affairs for the Liberty Counsel and an Associate Dean at Liberty University’s School of Law — where he will be teaching a course on “Sexual Behavior and the Law” this Fall. Barber and AFTAH’s Peter LaBarbera discussed the upcoming Americans For Truth Academy and the hysterical opposition to it by homosexual radicals like Joe Jervis (who claims the Academy will “foster violence” against homosexuals). At the Truth Academy, to be held outside Chicago Aug 5-7, Barber will be lecturing on, among other things, a “Non-defensive approach to the issue of homosexuality.” Speaking of which, the two discuss the current malaise of evangelicals on the homosexuality issue — including Andy Marin’s preposterous call for a “moratorium” in churches on preaching against the sin of homosexuality.
Toward the end of the interview, Barber, author of the “The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War,” discusses the homosexual activist movement (failed) attempt to open up blood donations to homosexual men — despite the well-documented linkage between male-on-male sex and various sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Barber was fired by Allstate Insurance Co., in 2005 after publishing an online article (on his own time) critical of the homosexual agenda. (A staffer with the homosexual group Human Rights Campaign played a role in Barber’s firing — demonstrating that for the ‘Gay’ Lobby, some “discrimination” — the anti-Christian type — is OK.) In this interview, Barber talks about his young career as a professional boxer and how God used his employment crisis for expressing his politically incorrect beliefs to launch his new career as a pro-family advocate. Barber discusses sharing the truth about homosexuality in the love of Christ, and tells about a relative who embraced homosexuality only to be faced with a severe health crisis arising from practicing an unnatural and sinful lifestyle.

She also discusses GLSEN founder (and Obama “Safe Schools” deputy) Kevin Jennings’ manipulation of alleged “gay” victimhood to promote the homosexual agenda in Massachusetts schools.

Laurie Higgins fought the teaching of the pornographic homosexual-authored play "Angels in America" as a high school writing instructor.
Our interview with Laurie Higgins, a writer with Illinois Family Institute, aired on May 8, 2010. Higgins is a relative newcomer to the pro-family scene but has distinguished herself with her brilliant and cogent analyses of homosexual activism and with her “deconstruction” — to borrow a leftist term — of “queer” argumentation and concepts (e.g., “sexual orientation”).
Higgins is a former writing instructor at Deerfield High School in the northern Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois. In Part One of this two-part interview, she describes how she was demoted at the school after speaking out about the promotion of homosexuality to students. She objected to the teaching of Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, a pornographic and blasphemous play by homosexual activist playwright Tony Kushner, to senior English students, and it was all downhill from there. In the end, after she had left Deerfield, Higgins learned that the district superintendent, George Fornero, a homosexual, had helped to spread malicious misinformation about Higgins and her family to other educators.

Mike Heath, new director of AFA of New England
Mike Heath is the former executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine and the new executive director of American Family Association of New England. (Heath will also retain the title of AFA of Maine.) He is also the only pro-family leader in American history to direct (as part of a pro-family coalition in Maine) the defeat of two statewide homosexual “special rights” laws, 1998 and 2001. In this interview, Heath, the Board Chairman of AFTAH, touches on the new evangelical politics surrounding anti-”gay marriage” initiatives — in which principled advocates against homosexuality like Heath are ostracized in the name of building coalitions more palatable to “moderate” voters.
